- Foundation Development Director
Description
The Development Director is responsible for securing WNCC Foundation funding for but not limited to scholarships, endowments, planned gifts, and Foundation held grants. This individual cultivates and strengthens relationships with major donors and grant funders and serves in an advisory and support role for college grants. The Development Director is an individual who takes initiative, is engaged with the community, and works closely with the Foundation Executive Director, Foundation Board, WNCC President, and Foundation and Alumni staff to accomplish the mission of the Foundation: to inspire investment and encourage WNCC student success by providing connections that increase access to education, create student opportunities, and positively impact the communities we serve.

- Work as an integral part of the Foundation team to help set, measure, and meet Foundation goals.
- Coordinate with the Foundation Executive Director to identify fundraising needs.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and other Foundation/Alumni staff to execute major events such as the Monument Marathon, stewardship events, and more as appropriate.
- Track and analyze data as it relates to job function.
- Cultivate relationships with potential donors and supporters through community involvement and connections that serve the mission of the Foundation.
- Secure gifts, grow scholarships, and promote future giving by interacting with donors and grant funders on a regular basis.
- Provide leadership in adhering to college-wide scholarship and grant policies and procedures.
- Audit internal scholarship practices on a regular basis to ensure accuracy and compliance with donor intent and award procedures.
- Take a lead role in all Foundation grant applications.
- Work together with Foundation staff to provide stewardship of donors, sponsors, and alumni.
- Work with donors and programs in designating gifts such as planned gifts, memorial/honorary gifts, student scholarships, and special project or program initiatives; provide reporting of these gifts both internally and externally.
- Create and maintain accurate records in donor database with the purpose of tracking donor trends to focus on retention and building donor base.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to cultivate, steward, and solicit donors and prospects through targeted appeals, campaigns, presentations, and individual donor meetings.
- Keep up-to-date by attending seminars and conferences, as well as keeping abreast of current tax laws as they pertain to charitable giving and solicitation.
- The Foundation Development Director plays a key role in the College's Grants Development and Management Policy & Administrative Procedure.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Requirements
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in communications, public relations, advertising, marketing or a related field preferred.
Experience:
Four years of increasingly responsible experience in fundraising activities; community engagement experience preferred.
License or Certificate:
Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record that does not exclude the driver from coverage under WNCC’s vehicle insurance.
